Biography:
Sometimes around December 2003, guitarist Schizo put up an advertisement on some local site searching for a drummer savoring similar taste in music. Few days later, Dipro contacted and started jamming with him with the intent to create a band embodying blistering speed, total brutality, technical proficiency, and the utmost in quality extreme musicianship. The two set upon the difficult task to recruit a killer line up and start one of the first Death/Extreme acts in Bangladesh. Dipro's cousin Nashine used to visit the jamming sessions to throw his growls with them. In January 2004, Schizo convinced his long-time friend Hamdan Kabir Safir (Hamdu) to pick up the bass and join them. But the founder Guitarist Schizo had doubts with Nashine - basically he was looking for a more versatile vocal. He asked his good friend Rhino for any other options. Coincidentally, Rhino was also good friends with vocalist Shawki, who possessed an unbelievably monstrous voice of unmatched ferocity. After hearing Schizo's intentions, Shawki aligned himself with the nascent group.

A month after formation, the band landed a high-profile gig "Metal Mayhem" on 13 February 2004, at a local venue called Russian Cultural Center with local headliners Artcell and such bands. The band unleashed on the unsuspecting crowd a torrent of unbelievably brutal, pulverizing death metal. Soon after, they started to get a great feedback from the local underground scene and appreciation from massive head bangers. In August 2004, the quartet found Guitarist Salekin, who enabled the artists to push the boundaries of their music even further. In between late 2004 and mid 2005 the band was confronted with a series of unexpected situations including line up replacements. Bassist Hamdu decided to leave the band who got busy with studies and lost interest in doing Extreme Stuff. From September 2004 to November 2004, bassist Zubaidur (Firebrand, STS) played for the band in several gigs. Schizo was looking for a more devoted bassist for the band. In December 2004, he offered bassist Shahriar, previously of Voodoo Economics, to join with them replacing Zubaidur. Nevertheless, the band tore its way through every obstacle and ripped to pieces everything that crossed its path.

Having set for a relentless musical war, the band entered the studio in January 2005 and recorded their first single "Mrittu (Jonmer Purbe)" which got released in a mixed band compilation album "Aguntuk 3" under the label G-Series. The revamped lineup immediately exploded in the local gigs and delivered a punishing concussion, an arsenal of merciless guitar works with a monstrous vocal triumvirate and a rapid-fire devastating percussive attack. The buzz on the band quickly grew as word of their uncompromising live performances spread rapidly.

On December 7 2005, the band released their second single "Demented Mentation" in a mixed-band compilation album "Adhar" under the label of Dead Line Music. Demented Mentation showcased Severe Dementia's otherworldly musicianship while delivering fierce deathgrind, merging technicality with utter brutality. Very shortly, one of the founder members, drummer Dipro left the band due to his family problems. Few days later, Schizo's good friend Drummer Johnnie joined Severe Dementia. Few weeks later, the band decided to drop off Bassist Shahriar who became irregular in the jamming sessions and couldn't really occupy with the band. But again the band faced problems to proceed further. Schizo and Johnnie wanted to come up with some experimental stuff but things did not work out well. Slowly the band stopped all of their activities – rehearsals, live gigs, recording etc. and almost got disbanded.

In the last week of 2006, Schizo’s old time buddy Rhino showed interest to join the band as a permanent drummer. Schizo wanted to resume all the activities too, so he talked to Rhino and accordingly he joined the band furthering thunderous assault. Few days later, the band offered Arefin to join Severe Dementia, who started his bass career playing with Decipher and Necropolis. Arefin gladly accepted the offer and the band gets back to the practice rooms after a long period of time to resume all the activities. On February 2007, Salekin decided to leave the band as he got too busy with his thesis works and other educational activities. There were few complications about Arefin as well, so the band decided to look for a new lead guitarist and a bassist for the local gigs and overseas tours. During February, Severe Dementia signed a deal with Demonstealer Records (India) to release an EP in a split album “Rise of the Eastern Blood” with Demonic Resurrection (India), Dusk (Pakistan) and Helmksey (Singapore). The conceptual EP is entitled as “Epitaph of Plassey” with 5 continuous songs based on the historical Battle of Plassey between the British East India Company and the then Bengal in 1757. Following that, Severe Dementia undertook a tour in India in April 2007 as being the first ever underground band from Bangladesh to play overseas and played two gigs at Mumbai and Pune as the headliner unleashing on the unsuspecting crowd a torrent of unbelievably brutal, pulverizing death metal. Schizo’s old friend Anton (Bloodlust) toured with the band to replace Shawki tackling the many sides to a monstrous growl and wild-like crowd interaction without going out of his depth. The opening of the album took place at the last gig of the tour on April 8 2007, at Razzberry Rhinoceros, Mumbai.

Obviously Severe Dementia is still together and kicking ass. Powersurge is not an issue here, though I formed both the bands. Specially, Severe Dementia is always in its own track, now reknown as an international band with our 1st EP album "Epitaph of Plassey" released from India internationally, Severe Dementia even toured India's Mumbai and Pune as per overseas gigs. Due to Ramadan, all the activities are on an halt, Severe Dementia resuming all the gigs again after Eid starting with Oct 25th at Nazrul Institute.
